This is the one that started it all

I got an email from Brett Logan of Logan Design Works asking if I could make him a etched aluminum plaque. He wanted a plaque of the logo for a bicycle ride that was established in memory of his dad. Brett is a stand up guy and has help me get this little venture rolling. He does awsome design work too. You can check him out by clicking on the link to the right.

  1. you are good at this! i wish there were pics of one being made so I can see how it's done?

  2. Shhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!! It's a secret! LOL

The raised area is masked with vinyl, then the piece is placed in a bath of different salts. The exposed area are etched by the salt solution. the strength of the solution and the time submerged in the solution determine the depth and texture of the etch.

  3. that's so neat!!! maybe they should should doing tattoos that way as well. ouch. maybe not. good job mr. TWT!
